What is Linux Mint?
Mint is a computer operating system and GNU/Linux distribution from Ireland that is suitable as an alternative and replacement to Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS for your desktop and laptop. Since its first release in 2006, it promises user friendly desktop experience, active development and very good community for all users. Mint is derived from another GNU/Linux system, Ubuntu, and is a Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) distribution, with its own slogan saying From freedom came elegance. Its two latest versions are 21 “Vanessa” released two years ago and 22 “Wilma” this year. Last but not least, Mint is a worldwide community-developed software project with countless people contributing each year and everyone is invited to join including you.
