This tutorial will help you take benefits from KDE Connect one of Kubuntu built-in applications that can connect to your Android phone. It is useful to send files from phone to laptop and vice versa, and it is very quick thanks to it uses wifi connection rather than bluetooth, as well as a lot of other features. We use Kubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble Numbat” the latest OS version of this year to give you the greatest experience.
First Preparation on Android Phone
1. Install KDE Connect from F-Droid (recommended) or Play Store.
2. Run KDE Connect.
3. Enable wifi and connect to a local hotspot.
4. Wait for second preparation.

Second Preparation on Kubuntu Laptop
1. Open KDE Connect from the system tray or the start menu.
2. KDE Connect window will show.
3. Your phone name will show (e.g. “HM Note 2”) then click it.
4. Click Pair.
5. On your phone, a new notification will pop up, tap “Accept.”
6. Both of your phone and laptop are now paired. Done.

Test KDE Connect on Kubuntu Laptop
1. Make sure the wifi connection and pairing are OK.
2. Run Dolphin.
2. Right-click a file -> Send to ‘Your Phone Name’ via KDE Connect.
3. On your phone, a new file will be received. Done.

1. Make sure the wifi connection and pairing are OK.
2. Run KDE Connect.
3. Tap Send Files.
4. Select a file from file manager showing.
5. On your laptop, a new file will be received. Done.
