  • Matt Stagg
  • Erin Rooney

Matt has been working in the data & website space for two years, beginning by building working data models using spreadsheets, prior to graduating to Access, MySQL and NoSQL database systems. Matt is lead Developer at Data Fidelity, completing all development for client projects.

Matt has a passion for data, as it is often overlooked as a subject which is prevalent in every single aspect of our daily lives; whether it is for personal information such as Facebook, media systems such as free-to-air TV, Netflix or Plex.

While there is a large number of people in 2020 who understand how to build and launch a simple website, very few understand how to build a relational database management system (RDBMS) which Matt has build considerable skill planning and developing; which for Australian businesses, can be an incredibly powerful tool for regular business processes.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys spending time with his three kids, and enjoys living a contrasting life alternating between learning and applying new technologies for Australian small businesses through Data Fidelity.

The concept of Data Fidelity was first thought of when Matt was introduced to Bitcoin in 2011. The idea that a technology, such as a decentralised, self-regulating code could revolutionize something fundamental to society such as currency, interested Matt, and the potential of what technology can do for people's lives interested Matt; teaching himself about Blockchain & decentralised technologies.

Prior to his formal education and running Data Fidelity, Matt was a volunteer for IBM's Call For Code which brought innovation through technology to improve under-developed countries. From here, we were present at the time that IBM HyperLedger was launched, and was able to beta test, and provide feedback using HyperLedger Fabric.

Erin has previous experience in the Financial Services Industry, and runs both the accounts payable & receivable for Data Fidelity.

Erin enjoys working on Data Fidelity as it is helping build a strong future for the family, and continues to brainstorm and assist with building the company.

Erin enjoys spending time with the three kids.

IT Security & Risk Management

Data Fidelity takes data security as a fundamental service when creating or managing websites, web or mobile apps which frequently contain sensitive data. We have put in place a number of strict data security & risk management systems for all clients.

  • Identifying potential risks
  • Assessing threats
  • Mitigation

Part of delivery a product to a customer includes identifying all potential security risks associated with their business. This can be done via a security audit of the existing IT systems, or alternatively by running a Penetration Test.

To assess ICT risks for the above potential vulnerabilities, points to consider are:

  • The mission of the system, including the processes implemented by the system
  • The criticality of the system, determined by its value and the value of the data to the organisation
  • The sensitivity of the system and its data

Investigating the potential vulnerabilities and assessing them considering the above points will help build each business a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) which can quantify potential risks in terms of how it will affect the business in the event of a cyber attack in terms of loss of business, cash flow, customer data, public reputation and down time.

When mitigating each of the risks in a BIA, Data Fidelity considers the following objectives:

  • Organizational policies
  • Cost-benefit asnalysis
  • Operational impact
  • Feasibility
  • Applicable regulations
  • Effectiveness of recommended controls
  • Safety and reliability
