We have finished publishing a collection of very basic Calc Spreadsheet tutorials for beginner grade since January 2022. Calc is a spreadsheet for everyone from LibreOffice — the most excellent free alternative to Microsoft Excel. This collection explains the use of 14 basic Calc Formulas from SUM to VLOOKUP divided into eight parts. Now you can easily learn and practice by reading them one by one via links below. Part 1: SUM, AVERAGE, and COUNT
To return total of a range of numeric values, the average, and the items.
Part 2: IF, SUMIF, COUNTIF
To make decision making to data, sum them with requirements, and count items also based on requirements you decide.
Part 3: PROPER, UPPER, LOWER
To manipulate alphabetical text (e.g. names) into proper cased (like a person name), all uppercase, and all lowercase.
Part 4: LEFT, MID, RIGHT
To manipulate text (e.g. names) by taking several characters out of it calculated from the left, the middle, and the right.
Part 5: LEN and CONCATENATE
To calculate number of characters a text is and to join several different texts into one.Â
Part 6: ROUND
To round decimal numbers.
Part 7: VLOOKUP
To search for a data from a vertically stacked source.Â
Part 8: HLOOKUP
Counterpart version of VLOOKUP, to search for a data from a horizontally stacked source.

This tutorial is based upon the ideas of 14 Microsoft Excel Formulas/Functions Mostly Used in Works (in Indonesian) by Jendela Tutorial. By this, we want also to show that Calc’s functions are the same as and compatible with Excel’s counterparts so it is possible for one to work with Calc only without relying to Excel.Â
